After all, if you don't get fired, you can sure get suspended without pay. Theres a million ways for people in the news industry to get in trouble, and saying something offensive is the easiest way. People won't want to watch a newsperson if they're saying things you don't like. So the word "testes" might not be offensive to some people, but it will be to others.
