Mayo, a Kiss and Controversy
Most people don’t even blink when they see kissing between a guy and a girl—opposite-sex lip-locking is taken for granted. But a kiss between two guys is a different story. Who would think that an innocent guy-on-guy kiss in a mayo commercial would cause a controversy? Check out the commercial below:
The ad was supposed to run in the UK for five weeks, but Heinz pulled the commercial after just one week. Why? Apparently over 200 people found the ad offensive and felt it was “inappropriate to see two men kissing.” Thankfully, Heinz changed their mind and decided to run the ad anyway.
Isn’t it kind of hypocritical that an innocent kiss between two guys in a mayo commercial is cause for controversy, but Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl”—a song about girl-on-girl kissing—is a worldwide hit?

p.s. boys if you like another boy, you go for it! dont let other people hold you back go with what you believe

Unfortunately, the reason people had a problem with this was likely not due solely to the fact that two men kissed in it, but rather that it was in such a domestic scenario- it seems to be easier for some to accept that gay people exist if they can pretend that we queers don’t have families and lives which are virtually no different from their own.
For some people, the idea that gay people can live together in a domestic situation and raise kids seems to be the stuff of nightmares- just read some of the justifications used to push forward Prop 8 in California.
I’ve seen several other UK commercials which included two men kissing, yet from what I’ve read, the majority of them were pretty much ignored. Of course, none of them showed two men kissing in a stable domestic situation, and none of them involved kids in any way. It makes you wonder, what are these people really offended by?

no matter what secxuality u are it should be accepted !!!
the only thing that gets to me about it is when people that arent straight get ott about the use of the word “gay”. u want to be accepted as normal and u definitly should but then u cant get all offended cause millions of people around the glob say things like “aghhh thats so gay” thats just what people say . if gay people want gays to be accepted and have it as accepted as straight is they have to be matture about it and not make such a big deal about that
