Three Cheers for Same-Sex Marriage
April has been an incredible month in LGBTQ history. Both Iowa and Vermont have legalized same-sex marriage. And Washington, D.C., will now recognize same-sex marriages from other states. These events are huge victories for the LGBTQ movement, but there’s still a long way to go in the fight for marriage equality.
Think you can’t make a difference? Think again! If you support same-sex marriage and LGBTQ rights, be open about it! That’s what 17-year-old James Neiley did in front of the Vermont Senate Judiciary Committee. Check out what he had to say about legalizing same-sex marriage:

Really?! I could understand Vermont legalizing marriage equality but Iowa did this! I don’t have anything against the state I just thought that it was really conservative! Good for them giving same-sex couples rights! Also that kid has guts!

I hope our generation will wake up and do something about the states that don’t allow same sex marriage. Most of our society doesn’t understand that we may have different skin, a different sex, or a different sexual orientation but we are all made of the Human Element. Deep down we are all the same, and it is unfair what the rest of the country is doing to the the QLBGT community.
