Me and my boy have been together now for almost 10 months. He is the greatest boy I have ever met. I never thought I could be this happy with someone. I'm only 16 years old, but he has taught me so much. I bet you are thinking wow is there anything wrong with this boy?
Well, he's a diabetic. He was born with Juvinille Diabetes. Thats a disease in which your pancreas doesn't secreat insullin. I didn't really understand what this all meant when we first started dating, but let me tell you what that means. A diabetic has to always check their bloodsugar to make sure that its not too high or too low. He can't over eat or undereat, he has to make sure that if he excercises, his blood glucose level doesn't drop.
Let me tell you what this means to me. I wake up every morning wondering if he even woke up alright, because while he sleeps there is always a chance that his blood sugar can drop way too low and he can't wake up. I am constantly worried that he will have an accident while driving. Sometimes I wont let him drive because his blood sugar is too low. I worry that he won't make it from my house to his house alright. I could loose the love of my life at any minute.
I try not to let him know that I'm so worried because he has enough to worry about. I try to make him feel as normal as possible. He has taught me so much. He's taught me not to judge other people, how to love unconditionally, and how to be totally selfless. Dispite his condition, we still manage to have the most incredible relationship.
