The course is listed as "Sex Ed", but we don't really learn about sex. Rather, we do, but not the stuff any teenager wants to know about. Kids these days learn the-- schematics, if you will. We learn what happens on the inside of the body-- about sperm, and eggs. I'm sure all that is important to know-- after all, I want to know what's happening inside my body after I lie down with a man.
But unfortunatly, no teacher or parent ever tells a kid how to do it. What not to do with a guy once you both lie down in bed (or in the car, or a haystack-- wherever you do you thing). What is a climax or an orgasm? I know men can be turned on, but what happens when a woman is? Can a woman pleasure herself? How? And is there a certain time when a woman is more or less fertile then other times?
I turned to the internet for help, and, over the years with broken bits of information gathered from unhelpful sites and stupid "if you know what I mean" double entendres, got most of my information. But I still lack knowledge that I don't doubt I'll find out eventually-- but only during sex.
I think it's a step in the right direction that we're learning about preventatives, but it's still not enough. I have questions about the act itself of sex, but am too afraid in class to bring them up. We need to learn about how to do it, not just what happens afterwards.
