Question: Am I the only one who wants to talk about sex?

I am taboo. I am different. I am not a conformist.

I have only started high school the past September, but there are a lot of things I see and hear about.

To me, the phrase “I love you” said with a romantic intention, is extremely chilling. Do high schoolers actually know the meaning of love when they say it? True, that is arguable. Some people may mean it sincerely when they say it, but those words are still way too common. All it takes is those three words to get into someone’s pants. Just because someone says that they love you, does not mean that you should lose sense of your own will.

It is scary when I think about it.. I do not want to be the next victim of the many that get pregnant. I do not want to be ‘it.’

I do not want to be the person that everyone stares at in a hush, because I have done something regrettable.

I am not going to say ‘SEX IS EVIL!! STAY AWAY FROM IT!’ and I am not trying to say ‘ SEX IS RELAXING AND FUN—LET’S GET HIGH ON IT!’ but rather, I feel that sex is not appropriate at my age and I am perfectly comfortable being a virgin. But seriously, why do high school teens need sex? We have a lot more things to worry about like homework and stupid friend problems and those extracurriculars that just seem to pile up onto your day and then, become the cause of your insomnia.

Sometimes, I sit in health class and wonder why we have to learn about each and every contraceptive method that we are not going to use now (under normal conditions)?! They should teach more about how to deal with your sexual orientation, because I am sure that there has to be someone sitting in health who is confused about whether or not they are homosexual and how to deal with the situation.

Also, I particularly do not understand why we have to know the male reproductive system or the female reproductive system. All that talk about all those diseases that you can get from sexual intercourse makes you feel disgusted by sex. Gonorrhea. Herpes. Genital warts. Ick! Then, a test is given out to see if students actually spent their time reading it…

However, I am not against sex ed. It is good that this course makes us aware of these things that some of us may never learn about, but sometimes, after you learned about what sex is, the effects, since sixth grade, it is really not worth learning again. Those awkward giggles in the classroom seem like just yesterday.

I know that sex ed would be more effective when they do not impose obvious aims on teens. It is no doubt they want us to be abstinent. But there are some teens who do not understand it.. and enjoy fighting against such rulings. Such can only lead to teenage rebels.

All in all, sex is not something I am interested in right now. It is a waste of my time, my virginity, and my youth. Who says that sex makes the world go around? So maybe I am a kid, but I enjoy being this way!
