What is a "crisis pregnancy center"? I see them advertised in my town. What do they do?

These centers claim to give women complete and accurate information about their pregnancy options when, in reality, their agenda is to dissuade women from obtaining abortions. They offer misleading and medically inaccurate information about abortion.

Common names of these centers include Crisis Pregnancy Center, Pregnancy Aid, Birth Right, Open Door, or Pregnancy Counseling Center. The Alan Guttmacher Institute reports that there are an estimated 2,500 to 4,000 fake “pregnancy counseling centers” in the U.S.

So, where can you go for honest and accurate information about your pregnancy options? Honest clinics do exist, and you can find one near you by calling the National Abortion Federation’s hotline (1-800-772-9100), or through Abortion Clinics Online.
