The NuvaRing is a flexible rubber ring that's inserted into the vagina for three weeks each month to prevent pregnancy. Hormones, (estrogen and progesterone), which are concentrated in the ring, are released into the bloodstream to prevent a female from releasing eggs, or ovulating.
