How do I know if I have a good or bad body image?

Answer these questions and then read on to find out what your answers say about your body image.

1. Which parts of your body do you feel really good about?
2. What would you change about your body or the way you look? Why?
3. Do you have a relative you look like? Or have you been told that you look like a certain celebrity? If so, how does it feel to know that you look like that person?
4. How much time do you spend getting ready before you go to school in the morning? Before you go out on a date?
5. In general, how do you feel about food and eating? Is it something you enjoy, or something you feel worried, guilty or concerned about?
6. Is there something about your looks that would keep you home from school? A zit? A bad hair day?
7. What steps would you take to change your body? Exercise? Cosmetic surgery? What’s too far?

When answering these questions, look for extremes. If, for example, there is not one thing you like about your looks and you’d freak if a zit popped up on your nose, you probably have a pretty low body image and need some help.

If, on the other hand, you found lots of things you like about your body and don’t spend too much time worrying about how you look, then you probably have a good body image.

I don't have a problem wth my body image it's just that i
only have one thing that i see in me. But some boys at
school be noticing me now and it haven't been happening
before. But it's like they are ashamed of me becasue they
only act out when no ones around and it's making me think
its because of my looks

Adolescence is a very difficult time in life, mostly because
people start growing at all different times and at all
different rates. Since things happen this way, there is no
"norm" to compare yourself with. Be proud of your body and
do your best to take good care of it. You only have so much
control over how your body develops, the rest is
genetics...so love your body as it is! Remember, your
boyfriend picked you to date...not the other girls...so he
likes you for who you are...you should too!

my boyfriend is 15 [junior] and i'm 14 [sophomore], most of
his friends are girls and they are 16 and i feel because
they're older and more developed then i am that i'm always
not good enough and i'll see their picture and i'll
automatically feel really frustrated, like almost angry that
i'm not 16 and don't look like they do, is there anything i
could do to increase my self-esteem?

all girls out there

I think that there is a big problem with our society. Every
single girl out there needs to realize that they are
beautiful, in some way or another, no matter what they look
like on the outside. Self-esteem shouldn't be based on what
others think of you, but instead just take the compliments
and glorify them. you are amazing, don't forget that.

Don't think I'll ever be good enough

I just feel like I will never meet my standards. I am like
35 pounds overweight, and my boyfriend always tells me I'm
beautiful, but all his friends are skinny girls and he
always is looking at girls infront of me. When he does that
it makes me feel like I'll never be good enough for him. I
do so much to TRY to make myself look somewhat beautiful,
but I just feel like sh*t. People say I a pretty, but I have
no self-esteem.

hormonal imbalance?

Posted by: StacieS on Apr 10th, 2007 10:52am

It is really, really common for women to have one breast
that is larger than the other. In fact - MOST women have one
breast that is slightly larger, or even a lot larger. This
doesn't mean that anything is wrong with you. It doesn't
mean you have a hormonal imbalance. If you are still
concerned ask your doctor about it at your next exam. Take
care!
