What are the dangers of eating disorders?

Depriving your body of food prevents it from working. Anorexics don’t get enough nutrition, vitamins and minerals. That means their kidneys can stop working. They can end up with severe infections, go blind and even have heart attacks.

Binging and vomiting also deprive the body of nutrients. This can cause problems with the lining of the stomach and increase the risks for certain types of cancer.

People with eating disorders also often lose their hair, have brittle nails, low blood pressure, sleeping problems and serious stomach problems, along with other physical ailments.

People with eating disorders often become depressed. They withdraw from family, friends and school activities. The depression can make the eating disorder worse. Some people with eating disorders get so depressed they try to kill themselves.

RE: I wish I had 3 wishes

I'm very sorry and concerned that you feel this way about
your body. Many people go through different times in their
life where there are different things that they don't like
about their bodies, so you are not alone. Adolescence can
be especially difficult because everyone's bodies (and body
parts) are developing at such different paces. The best way
to change your body image is to accept your body as it is.

It seems to me that r*** can cause intense feelings - like
hating your body. I don't think you are crazy at all! I
think you need and deserve some support and help. Did you
tell people about the r***? Did you gt counseling? Even if
you did, I think this is a good time to get more support
around your body image issues. Talk to a school counselor or
tell someone in your family that you want counseling. You
can also start by calling the hotline at www.RAINN.org. They
will understand and help you.
