Is it normal to have hair "down there"?

Totally. It’s called pubic hair. The hair usually grows just above and around the vulva and penis.

Pubic hair provides warmth and padding. For women, it also traps dirt and germs that can get inside the vagina and cause an infection.

Some people shave their public hair, but most don’t. When people shave their pubic hair, they usually itch while the hair grows back. There can also be irritation and soreness without hair covering this sensitive skin area.

If you do decide to shave, be careful! Soak in a bath, use a new, clean razor and lots of soap or shaving cream. Shave in the direction of the hair growth. Then put on some lotion (such as Tend Skin) or powder to help avoid itching and irritation.

Having pubic hair is perfectly natural, so there is nothing
to be embarassed about. If you feel it is preventing you
from wearing the clothing you would like, some people choose
to trim their pubic hair with electric clippers or scissors,
some people wax or shave it off completely. It is all a
matter of preference. You should do what is going to make
you feel comfortable. Check out this FAQ:

ok listen this is from a guy who trimms. i trim my pubic
hair and its amazing. you look at yourself in a better way
but if you dont think that thats fine, but its up to you. if
you masturbate or have sex its a great experiance for both
partners or for the ones self. i recommend every person
should try it and if you dont your missing out.

First let me say that shaving or trimming your pubic hair is
a very personal choice. Some people do, but many people do
not. Trimming is different then shaving in that it shortens
the hair by using clippers or a buzzer like a barber would
use for a haircut. There is still some (shorter) hair left
and this process will generally cause less irritation
then shaving. I hope that helps!

Trimming?

What is trimming, and isn't it another option than shaving?
How do you trim the hair "down there"?

Uh...

...I can't shave at all, my skin is very sensitive and
reacts badly to it. I thought about electrolysis, but then I
realized that I don't need to get rid of it. If that day
comes and a guy is that disgusted by something that everyone
on earth has, then I don't need him. It's a huge
inconvenience to me when I try to get rid of it, so I'm
comfortable with it now.

Down there: response

I don't shave and my boyfriend loves it. It changes from guy
to guy. but no matter it they like it or not, it is your
body and you can make it look however you want.

Caution

I used to shave my scrotum because it is....nvm. Anyways, I
developed a couple of hard white bubble like things on the
outside. If you decide to shave, make sure you use a clean
razor EVERYTIME! If not, you may have the same happen to
you. Btw, trimming looks much better than shaving and it
doesn't itch when the hairs grow back.
