I have a crush on a girl, and we fooled around. Am I gay?
It’s impossible for me to say whether you’re gay. During the teen years and young adulthood, many people are trying to figure out who they are. That includes trying to figure out whether they’re gay (homosexual), straight (heterosexual) or bi (bisexual).
Some people have sexual experiences with people of the same gender when they are young, but come to discover that they are heterosexual. And some have sexual experiences with people of a different gender when they are young, but grow up to discover that they are gay, lesbian or bisexual.
A person’s sexual orientation is something that develops over time. Your feelings, not just behaviors, will eventually help you figure out whether you’re gay, heterosexual or bisexual.
Why worry about labeling your feelings right now? Just try to figure out how you feel toward different people and in different situations. Try to figure out what makes you happy. If your feelings continue to worry you, talk to someone you trust who can help you sort things out.
