I’m not dating anyone right now and like it that way. Is that OK?

Totally OK. There’s way too much pressure on pre-teens and teens to pair up and date from way early. You have your whole life ahead of you. What’s the rush?

Lots of people don’t get really interested in dating until their late teens or even their twenties. They have other interests that rank higher on their list of priorities. Maybe they’re working hard at getting into a good college or really involved in a sport.

Too many teens start dating when they’d rather just hang in mixed-sex groups, getting to know each other before hooking up. But there’s a lot of pressure out there to get romantic. Our culture makes it seem like the only happy people in the world are ones who are a part of a couple. So not true. Lots of single people live happy, healthy lives.

So, resist the pressure and march to your own tune. You’ll know when the time is right.
