If a girl has her period, can she still be pregnant?

No. Women cannot be pregnant and still get her period. In fact, that's usually the first sign that they are pregnant. They miss a period.

But some women have a light monthly bleeding or irregular bleeding called spotting when they're pregnant. So they often don't figure it out for quite awhile. Here are some other signs of pregnancy to watch out for: sore or tender breasts, nausea and vomiting, frequent urination, and fatigue. If you have any of these signs, miss your next period, or have a lighter-than-normal period, you should take a pregnancy test right away.

The most private way to take a pregnancy test is to buy an at-home pregnancy test. These kits, available at most drugstores and online, generally let you take the test as early as the day after you were supposed to get your period. FirstResponse test kits can show results a few days before you expect your period.

If the test is positive, you should see your doctor or go to a clinic that provides pregnancy testing and prenatal care. They can confirm your pregnancy and help you explore your options. To find a confidential family planning clinic near you, call (1-800) 230-PLAN, or go click here.

Note: If you've had unprotected sex in the past 1-5 days and think you might be at risk for a pregnancy, you can get emergency contraception that can prevent pregnancy even after having unprotected sex. But you have to act quickly. Emergency contraception must be taken within 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected intercourse. For more information, click here, or call the Emergency Contraception Hotline at 1-888-NOT-2-LATE (668-2528)

If a girl is at risk for pregnancy, then she and her partner are also at risk for STDs. Both would need to visit a clinic to get tested.

It sounds like you aren't pregnant. Your boyfriend would
have been able to tell if the condom was broken or not when
he removed it. I am glad to hear that you used a condom,
that will help reduce your risk of both pregnancy and STDs.
The only way to tell for sure if you are pregnant or not is
to take a pregnancy test. These tests can be purchased at
your local pharmacy or you can have a test gone at your
local clinic.

got my period (earlier than usual, but my periods are
irregular). i flowed heavily one day then suddenly stopped
the next day. it started back up again the next day then
finished a day later. i was wondering, is it possible i'm
pregnant?

As long as he did not ejaculate during that second he was
inside of you, then, no, there is no way that you could be
pregnant. Pregnancy happens when one of his sperm gets into
you vagina and fertilized one of your eggs. Contact like
that can however transmit STDs, so you do need to be
careful. You should always use a condom to reduce your risk
of pregnancy or STDs.

There is no 100% safe time of the month to have unprotected
sex and not get pregnant. If you had sex the two days
before her period, or during the first 2 days of her period,
you chances are much lower. Your risk level would depend on
what day of her cycle she was in when you had unprotected
sex and how regular her cycle is. I hope in the future you
will consider always using a condom to help reduce this risk
and to help lower your risk of STDs as well.

I'm not sure what you are trying to protect your baby from?
Can you give me some more information? Also, for the
future, I encourage you to look into polyurethane condoms.
These are a good option for people who are allergic to
latex. Check out this story on all the different types of
condoms that are available:

Taking 1 extra hormone pill can not hurt you, but you should
not play with them too much without consulting your health
care provider, especially since this is only your second
month on them. If he did not ejaculate inside of you, you
should be safe. Remember, Plan B is always an option for up
to 5 days after you have unprotected sex. Check out this
link: http://www.sexetc.org/page/plan_b. Condoms and
hormonal pills are your best bet to reduce the risk of
unplanned pregnancy as well as STDs.

Worried :(

Posted by: xKyokox on Jun 8th, 2008 5:44am

Last night I had sex with my bf and didn't use a condom. I
am, however, on Yasmin and I'm now finishing my second month
on it. What worries me is that last night I took my last
hormone pill of the month and today I'm taking the placebos.
So now that I'm taking the inactive pills is there a chance
I could get pregnant? He pulled out but I'm worried about
pre-cum. I panicked when my period didn't start immediately
so I took a hormone pill from my next pack just in case,
should I have done that??
