Can I get pregnant if he pulls out?

Yes. Pulling out, also called "withdrawal" and "coitus interruptus," is risky because the guy has to be totally aware of when he's going to ejaculate, or cum. Then, he has to have enough self-control to pull out before he cums, every single time. Just one mistake can cause a pregnancy.

A lot of guys, especially younger ones, are unable to control themselves, especially when they're so close to the pleasure of orgasm. Plus, a woman can get pregnant even if a guy ejaculates just a little bit of semen at the opening of her vagina.

Safer sex is not just about preventing unwanted pregnancy. It's also about keeping you and your partner healthy -- and free from sexually transmitted diseases, which can be spread both through pre-cum and vaginal fluids.

Pulling out is better than using no birth control at all. But it's unreliable and gives no protection against sexually transmitted diseases. Are you really ready to take those chances?

If you want to make an appointment at a family planning clinic to be tested for pregnancy and/or STDs, to get emergency contraception, or to get a reliable method of birth control, you can find one in your area by looking in your local yellow pages under "family planning" or "clinics." You can click here to find a clinic near you, or call 1-800-230-PLAN to be connected automatically to the Planned Parenthood health center nearest you.

As long as none of his sperm got into your vagina, there is
no way that you could be pregnant. Unprotected sex can,
however, leave you at risk for STDs, so you should be tested
regularly. I am not sure if you meant you don't want to
take Emergency contraception (EC), but regular birth control
must be taken regularly in order to be effective. EC is
taken if something happened that would put you at a higher
risk for pregnancy. EC does not protect against STDs.

is it possible?

my boyfriend and I just had unprotected sex but he pulled
out 3 to 5 minutes before he ejaculated and just finished
him off by hand. my next period should be due in one week
and he hasn't recently ejaculated before we had sex. is it
possible that i could be pregnant? because if there is a low
possibility i would rather not take birth control.

There is no way for me to know whether or not you are
pregnant. If the test said no, and you have gotten your
period consistently since then, and not done anything that
would put you at risk for pregnancy, then I would say that
you are safe. Just remember...September was 2 months
ago...there is a possibility for pregnancy every month.

It doesn't sound like you are pregnant. If you are actually
getting your period, then you are not pregnant. The only
way to tell for sure is to get a pregnancy test. If you had
unprotected sex, you should get tested for STDs as well. A
clinic can do testing for both for you. If you need to find
a clinic near you, check out this link:

If the male is not using a condom, a girl will likely feel a
warm, gushy feeling if he ejaculates inside of her. You do
need to be careful because unprotected sex like this can
lead to unwanted pregnancy and STDs. If you have had
unprotected sex, it is best to take EC within the first 2 or
3 days. The longer you wait after unprotected sex to take
EC, the less effective it is. I hope that helps!

You shouldn't have to worry about urinating when you have an
erection. The body has built in ways to prevent you from
urinating during that time. If you ejaculated, you would
feel fluids come rushing out of the tip of your penis, so my
guess is that you probably did not ejaculate. If you are
wooried, check out our information on EC. The fluid you
were seeing may have been pre-cum. I would suggest always
using a condom to be safer and reduce your risk of unwanted
pregnancy and STDs.

Me and my girlfriend had unprotected sex a couple of days
ago.When started doing it I had to urinate a little.After a
while I thought that I was about to ejaculate so I pulled
out. When I did there was nothing on my penis so does that
mean i didnt ejaculate in her. Also about 15 min after we
finished doing it I checked my penis and there was semen in
my urethra starting to come out. Does that mean I already
ejaculated or did I ejaculate late or something.
