How do you have dry sex? Is it really sex?

Dry sex is when people rub their bodies together in ways that feel good. Most of the time, people have dry sex with some or all of their clothes on. They rub their bodies together, usually in ways that make their genitalspenis, vagina, clitoris -- feel good. Sometimes, this will give them an orgasm. Sometimes, people have dry sex with no clothes on, but there’s no penetration. That means no penis, fingers or other objects enter either partner’s body. Dry sex is called that because there’s no swapping of body fluids, reducing the chances of pregnancy or disease.

For heterosexual couples, it is important for the guy to ejaculate away from his partner's vagina if they are rubbing without clothes on. If his cum (ejaculate) spills onto her vagina there is a chance for a pregnancy to begin - even if his penis never enters her. This can also be risky for sharing STDs.

Dry sex can give you sexual pleasure and orgasms, so it’s definitely a type of sexual activity. But, there’s a lot less risk then with sexual intercourse, unless of course you get carried away and end up having “wet sex.” It can be a good idea to talk beforehand about how far you want to go or don't want to go and have safer sex supplies (like condoms and dental dams) nearby just in case.

I'm sorry to hear that this is happening to you, and NO, it
NOT OK. Whenever 2 partners are involved in any type of
physical or sexual activity, and one partner asks the other
to stop, then that needs to happen. If that person does not
respect your wishes, it becomes sexual abuse. This is not
your fault, and you never have to do anything you do not
want to do. I encourage you to talk to a trusted adult
about what is happening and check out this site:

My boyfriend and I had it and personally, I thought it was
so much more fun than oral because we weren't worried about
STDs or anything and when youre doing it as your making out
it makes it even hotter!!

If you had dry sex with your clothes on, the only way that
you could get pregnant is if your boyfriend had semen (cum)
on his hand and any of that cum got into your vagina. If
you had dry sex with no clothes on and your boyfriend
ejaculated in or near you vagina, then yes, there is a
higher risk for pregnancy. Also, dry sex without clothes on
runs a higher risk of STDs. For more information on
avoiding STDs, check out this FAQ:

I disagree. many people believe that the only way to lose
your virginity is to have sexual intercourse.

a lot of people consider any type of sexual contact "losing
your virginity" including oral, anal, "wet" or "dry"
sex. though usually people have oral sex and consider
themselves still virgins because they haven't had
intercourse

Wet Sex

Posted by: StacieS on Feb 6th, 2007 10:27am

Hey there. When we wrote "wet sex" we meant any kind of sex
where people swap body fluids, like oral sex, vaginal sex or
anal sex. When people have any kind of "wet sex" without
using protection, like condoms and dental dams, there is a
high risk for sharing STDs. When people have "wet sex" that
includes putting a penis in a vagina without a condom or
birth control there is also a high risk for pregnancy. Hope
that helps clear up any confusion!
