If both my partner and I have HPV, is it OK to stop using condoms for sex?

It might seem like since you and your partner both have the same STD that you could not infect each other. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There are many different types of HPV so it possible that you and your partner could infect each other with different types of HPV.

Also, just because you both know that you have HPV does not mean you do not have another STD that you might not know about. Continuing to use condoms every time you have sex (oral, anal, or penile-vaginal) is still an important way for you to protect yourselves and each other from STDs.
