When my girlfriend and I have sex, I pull out before I cum and she's never gotten pregnant. So, why do people always say pulling out is risky?

Pulling out, also called "withdrawal" and "coitus interruptus," is risky because the guy has to be totally aware of when he's going to ejaculate (cum). Then, he has to have enough self-control to pull out before he cums, every single time. Just one mistake can result in an unplanned pregnancy.

A lot of guys are unable to have this much control, especially when they're so close to the pleasure of orgasm and ejaculation. Plus, a woman can get pregnant even if a guy ejaculates just a little bit of semen near the opening of her vagina, because sperm can swim inside.

Safer sex is not just about preventing unplanned pregnancy. It's also about keeping you and your partner healthy - and free from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), which can be spread both through pre-cum and vaginal fluids.

Pulling out is better than using no birth control at all. But it's unreliable and gives no protection against STDs. Are you really ready to take those chances?

It is possible, but what was probably happening was just the
end of your period. If you start to experience any symptoms
of pregnancy, then you should look into getting a home
pregnancy test. I do suggest that any time you have sex it
is best to use a condom, but it is especially important
around the time of your period because there can be a lot of
exposure to blood. This can put both you and your partner
at high risk for STDs such as HIV.

Sperm in precum: Response

Posted by: StacieS on Aug 6th, 2007 1:38pm

Most of the time urinating will kill sperm. But I have no
idea what "most men" do after they cum. Perhaps you could
start a poll on the forums to get a general idea? I suggest
that couples never consider urination before sex to be a
form of birth control! Pulling out is ineffective mostly
because it is so hard to know EXACTLY WHEN to pull out. And
a mistake involving a millisecond would still deposit
thousands of sperm in her vagina. Not a good idea!

Sperm in precum after urinating?

Wouldn't urinating after ejaculating get rid of any left
over sperm...and don't most men go urinate after the cum to
clean themselves out? just curious

Clarification on sperm in pre-cum

Posted by: StacieS on Apr 3rd, 2007 4:39pm

The most recent research shows that pre-cum is made in the
Cowper's Gland, not the testes. That means the pre-cum fluid
never comes in contact with sperm UNLESS it picks up
left-over sperm in the urethra. You can check out these

Forgetting something important!!!!

Dude! Pre-cum has sperm in it! It doesn't matter when you
ejaculate, you can still get your girlfriend pregnant if any
amount of sexual fluid comes out of your penis.
