Emancipated Minor
A legal status that is different from being a minor. It is more like having the rights and responsibilities of an adult. The laws vary state to state, but generally you are an emancipated minor if you are under 18 years old and married or in the armed forces. You can petition a court to be considered an emancipated minor if you live separatively from your family and no longer receive financial help from them.
