1.    What is Sex, Etc.?

Sex, Etc. is an award-winning national magazine and Web site on sexual health that is written by teens, for teens, and published by Answer at Rutgers University. The teen editorial staff that writes Sex, Etc. gives teens honest and comprehensive information about sexual health—info they might have a hard time getting elsewhere.


2.    Who gets Sex, Etc.?

Each issue of Sex, Etc. is distributed to 30,000 students in the United States. Most students receive the magazine as part of their health classes. Copies are also distributed through many youth-serving community organizations throughout the U.S., and some teens subscribe.


3.    How popular is the Web site?

The Web site gets more than 20,000 unique visitors per day, and includes topic areas like GLBTQ, Deciding about Sex, Birth Control and Condoms, and features like forums, polls, videos and more.


4.    How many times a year is Sex, Etc. published?

The magazine comes out three times a year—in the fall, winter and spring. The editorial staff helps produce all three issues. They also write stories and create other content for the Web site.


5.    What will I do as a contributor?

You will contribute your unique voice as a teen writer to our award-winning magazine and Web site. You will submit your own feature stories to Sex, Etc. and produce other site content.


6.    What’s in it for me?

You will be making a difference. Teen readers tell us that Sex, Etc. helps them make better choices about sex, relationships and the future. You’ll get a chance to honestly explore important topics about sexuality. And you will be paid $75 for each story we publish.


7.    How long can I be a contributor?

As long as you're a teen who's 19 or younger, you can contribute.
