As my calculus teacher scribbles tangled equations on the chalkboard before me and my fellow juniors, I try to calculate how many days into my period I was when I lost my virginity. Was I in the second week? Maybe day 20?
If the sperm can live for three to six days inside of me and my egg was traveling at a constant rate toward wherever it goes to be fertilized, could I be pregnant now? It's like an impossible math problem on a final exam, only I have far more at stake than a decent grade.

It sounds like you will be fine. If your boyfriend wiped of
his penis before he inserted it into you, and he did not
ejaculate inside of you, then there is little to no chance
of pregnancy. In order to get pregnant, there needs to be
sperm to meet your egg, if he wiped the sperm off, then
there is no chance this will happen. You do however need to
be careful as there is a chance you have been exposed to
STDs. Condoms should always be used to protect against both
pregnancy and STDs.

Try not to stress, it sounds like you should be fine. If he
did not ejaculate inside or near your vagina, there is very
little chance that you could be pregnant. If you are
worried, you can still take Plan B for up to 5 days after
you had unprotected sex. Check out this link for more
information: http://www.sexetc.org/page/plan_b. You may also
want to think about being tested for any STDs as unprotected
sex can put you at risk for that as well. Check out our Get
Tested section for more info.

There is no 100% safe time of the month to not get pregnant.
If you are having unprotected sex, the risk will be higher
not only for pregnancy, but the possibility of getting an
STD. At this point you will have to wait to see if you get
your period. If you do not, or if it is very light, you
will want to take a pregnancy test. Here is a link about
emergency contraception for the future:
http://www.sexetc.org/faq/birth_control/971. Hang in there!

Time is definitely a factor in considering what is right for
you. I think because of your concerns about your stomach
condition, your best bet is to see a medical care provider
as soon as possible if you do decide that EC is right for
you. EC can be taken for up to 5 days after the time of
unprotected intercourse. If you want to get more
information on EC please see www.not-2-late.com. For
specific laws about purchasing EC in your state, see
http://www.sexetc.org/state. Good Luck!

this is what's happening to me right now... except in my
case the condom slipped off and I don't know if my boyfriend
pulled out in time. I only have a few more days to decide to
use EC, but I can't get it myself (I'm 17 and a half... how
annoying) and I'm afraid of the side effects of vomiting
because I have a chronic stomach condition that could be
worsened by it. I have to decide NOW and find some way to
get it. Thoughts?

It sounds like you are safe. Live sperm would need to have
gotten inside your vagina in order to start a pregnancy. So
just touching down there a little bit will not get you
pregnant. Also, sperm does not live outside the body very
long, and certainly will not survive after you wash your
hands. I hope that helps!
