Regardless of where you stand on sex education, abortion and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (GLBTQ) issues, you should know where President-elect Barack Obama stands. Check out what he has to say about these important issues:
“I also believe that we cannot ignore that abstinence and fidelity may too often be the ideal and not the reality—that we are dealing with flesh and blood men and women and not abstractions. And that if condoms and potentially microbicides can prevent millions of deaths, they [condoms] should be made more widely available.”
“Another area where we can make significant progress in prevention is by removing the stigma that goes along with getting tested for HIV/AIDS. The idea that in some places, nine in ten people with HIV have no idea they're infected is more than frightening. It's a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.”
From the 2006 Global Summit on AIDS and the Church, December 1, 2006

“This is a difficult moral issue. And one of the things that I believe is that to pretend that it's not a moral issue is a mistake. I think that people wrestle with this issue deeply. My belief is simply that women are in the best position to make that very difficult moral decision.”
From a speech in Algona, IA, December 16, 2007
“I’m all for education for our young people, encouraging abstinence until marriage, but I also believe that young people do things regardless of what their parents tell them to do. And I don’t want my daughters ending up in really difficult situations because I didn’t communicate to them how to protect themselves if they make a mistake.
“I think we’ve got to have that kind of comprehensive view that says family planning and education for our young people and so forth—to prevent teen pregnancies, to prevent the kinds of situations that lead to women having to struggle with these difficult decisions. And we should be supportive of those efforts.”
From “Obama Explores Abortion Issue,” The Caucus, The New York Times Politics Blog, October 6, 2007
“I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans. But neither will I close my ears to the voices of those who still need to be convinced. That is the work we must do to move forward together. It is difficult. It is challenging. And it is necessary.”

I supported him back in June, I supported him after he was
nominated by the democaratic party, I supported him through
the tough road to becoming our next president. Obama has our
best interests in mind, understand our point of views, and
wants to protect us all by throwing out abstinence-only sex
ed, and adding on REAL, COMPREHENSIVE sex ed that will
better educate all teens. He supports keeping choices open,
and rights to everyone. I beleive that this is a new age for
us all, he will help us

Barack all the way. My mind was made up before this blog,
but either way he's still so much more informed.

I think Obama's right on with issues. He seems to know what
he's talking about and i support his ideas on helping to
prevent us from getting us in situations we'd rather not be
in.
