As females, we’re told to stay away from our privates because they’re “dirty” or “wrong.” We’re condemned to poor sex education and even encouraged to believe that anything that feels good is “evil.” “It’s evil and disgusting and perverse and unnatural and ungodly,” they say. In some countries, they even remove the clitorises from their female children. All the while, girls’ voices are being repressed, and we’re made to believe that perhaps we are evil because of our urges.

Meanwhile, if you’re a girl who enjoys kissing and touching and caressing and (ahem) sucking guys, then you’re considered a slut at school, while guys enjoy these things with not so much as a second look. It’s considered wrong for girls to feel pleasure, but not for guys. It’s so hard to accept this double standard.
But you know what? The double standard has to change sometime, with someone, and it might as well start with me. I’ll shout it from the rooftops: I’m comfortable with myself. I masturbate, and I kiss and caress and touch and (ahem) suck guys. And I’m damn proud of it. I haven’t had vaginal sex, but I’m not necessarily waiting until I get married. When the right man comes along, I’ll be prepared with condoms and lubricant.
What we need, ladies, is to band together and be proud of who we are. That’s the only way things are going to change. In the meantime, I’m taboo and proud of it.

, i wish my parents weren't those people who think
everything is WRONG. I am so glad to hear this and know I am
not the only one that is proud of all these things, and just
like you, i have done "things" other than vaginal sex and
have been afraid of many people looking down on me. Me and

I read the title of this story in an email and it sounded
interesting, so I clicked on it. Little did I know it was
the story I entered for the I'm Taboo contest. I think it
pretty awesome that something I wrote is enlightening and,
dare I say it, helping people. This really brightened my

You couldn't have said it better. I hate the fact in western
society we're pressured to dress like complete sluts, yet if
we do it we get a reputation and are concidered bad girls.
We're also pressured to not feel anything, and that sex is a
big joke. How many times in movies do we see the female
orgasming? A lot less then we see men. Double standards need
to change. Now.

! and i sure the hell aint scared to admit it. im proud.
girls can't always get the pleasure they want from a guy so
why not do it yourself ? its a god thing some girls, like in
your case, are independant. it just goes to show that we
don't need a man to pleasure us! and i think thats a good
thing.
