My favorite quote is, "Physical beauty: lies, but doesn't pretend." I don't know who wrote it and whenever I look it up it never is the way it was when I first heard it. To me, physical beauty isn't everything, but it speaks volumes about your character. Some people change the way they look, it says things about how they feel, their self-esteem and what they are to do to be something more. I often imagine myself without a crooked eye tooth and straighter hair. I smile a certain way, and I keep my hair braided. It says things about me. I am confident, and people notice it. I could change my appearance, but that doesn't stop me from being Aliyah. And it doesn't stop the fact that who I am is who I am, I can pretend to be something different, but I can't lie about being me.
