Gender

This refers to the cultural identities, expressions and roles typically related to a person’s sex assigned at birth, often classified as masculine or feminine. These cultural identities, expressions and roles are assigned to people based on the interpretation of their bodies and, more specifically, their sexual and reproductive anatomy. Examples of gender include girl, guy, man, woman, transgender girl, transgender guy, agender, gender expansive, genderqueer, nonbinary and gender non-conforming.

Gender is socially constructed or made up, so some people reject or change their gender assignment and develop something that feels truer to who they are.
